Dinosaurs Life Size

This large book will make a big impression on kids, packed as it is with color illustrations and fascinating information about the many different members of the dinosaur family that roamed the earth millions of years ago. Better yet, the illustrations give young readers a sense of various dinosaurs' actual size by presenting scientifically accurate life-size pictures of different body parts. Each spread is devoted to a particular type of dinosaur, showing illustrations of bones and skeletons, as well as pictures of what those great beasts looked like when they were alive. Picture captions and copy blocks provide information about each dinosaur--its size, the location of major fossil finds, descriptions of how the dinosaur hunted and what it ate, and the prehistoric period during which it lived. One illustration in each spread is actual life size. For example, in the dramatic spread that profiles the Coelophysis dinosaur--a carnivorous biped that was 9.8 feet from nose to tail--an actual life-size picture of the animal's head makes an impressive central display, surrounded by smaller illustrations and fact boxes. Most of the spreads cover two pages, but several extra-large spreads include gatefolds, and expand to double size.
