Pedal Cars- Hemmings Motor News

BMC was located in Binghamton, New York and originally started as a car dealership and service station center. In 1947, BMC started manufacturing pedal cars and toys with the initial thrust being a pedal car and tractor line. Especially popular was their unique ball bearing wheel and adjustable pedal design, which BMC capitalized on by marketing their vehivles "as the world's only toys with genuine knee auto-action that actually works." Other key features included the duo-seat, adjustable pedals, one-piece body construction and puncture proof tires.

The BMC CT convertible was first manufactured in 1948. The success of the CT convertible led to the 1950 introduction of the R-2 and R-8 special series racers. There were additional product introductions in 1952 and 1953, which included the Blue Streak, Challenger and Jet Liner series of body styles.
